What Is the Jersey Mike’s Chicken Salad Giveaway?
The giveaway offers one grand-prize winner a full year of free subs: a regular sub, once a week, for 52 weeks. The Story Behind the “Excess-ory” Canister
The giveaway builds on a stunt Jersey Mike’s ran back in May 2026. The chain created a one-of-a-kind canister covered in blue and white gemstones, nicknamed the Chicken Salad Sub “Excess-ory,” and used it to hand-deliver Chicken Salad Subs to a small group of lucky fans. That moment went viral on social media, and the August giveaway is the follow-up fans have been waiting for.
Why Chicken Salad Has Become Such a Big Deal
| Timeline | What Happened |
|---|---|
| Early 2025 | Jersey Mike’s introduced a new all-white-meat chicken breast used in the Roasted Chicken Breast Sub and Spicy Chicken Italian Sub |
| April 2025 | The Signature Chicken Salad Sub launched nationwide for a limited time and sold out almost instantly |
| Spring 2026 | Chicken Salad returned for summer by popular demand |
| May 2026 | The gemstone “Excess-ory” canister stunt hand-delivered subs to select fans and went viral |
| August 2026 | Jersey Mike’s announced the Year of Free Subs giveaway tied to the campaign |
Before its 2025 relaunch, Chicken Salad was inconsistent across locations: some stores carried it, most didn’t, and it was largely left up to individual managers. The nationwide rollout turned it into an official, marketed item for the first time, which is part of why it now draws this kind of attention.
